Are they hoping the parents will believe that??? Many other schools across the country have to close until the mold is remediated because IT IS A PROVEN FACT THAT MOLD CAUSES ILLNESS EVEN IN HEALTHY PEOPLE!

BAKER, LA (WAFB) – The Baker School Board has passed a motion declaring an emergency at Baker Middle School because of concerns about mold in more than a dozen classrooms, but it won’t interfere with the start of the school year.

Superintendent Estes Taplin said despite the mold, students will begin classes on Aug. 11 anyway.

Taplin said the board’s attorney told school officials the mold doesn’t present a health hazard.

Taplin said the emergency declaration grants him the authority to hire a mold remediation contractor without going through the normal bidding process.

The mold was discovered two weeks ago, after a four-day power outage at the school.
