The Louisiana Supreme Court continues to address public concerns regarding attorney misconduct. In 1990, Louisiana’s lawyer discipline system became the first in the nation to incorporate the American Bar Association’s Model Rules for Disciplinary Enforcement, the hallmark of which is the use of non-lawyers in the disciplinary process.

The purposes of lawyer discipline proceedings are:

to protect the public

to protect the integrity of the legal system

to ensure the administration of justice

to deter further unethical conduct

to rehabilitate the offending lawyer

to deter unethical behavior by educating other lawyers and the public.

The system is administered by a 14 member statewide Attorney Disciplinary Board, four of whom are public members unaffiliated with the legal profession, assisted by 117 hearing committee members, consisting of 78 attorneys and 39 lay representatives.

LADB is Louisiana’s premiere resource for disciplinary case law.

Veterans For Change News – Warning! – Linda K. May – Scammer & Fraud – Appears on Info Wars Talk Show with Alex Jones posted on YouTube – 40 Documents Now Online with over 12,000 more pages to come

Linda K. May is on the lose again folks!  So keep your ears peeled, eyes open, wallets secured!

As most of our readers know Ms. May has attempted to insert herself into many toxic mold issues beginning in Elementary Schools on the east coast, to the elderly, then veterans.

We have obtained hard core proof beyond doubt that she has scammed at least four families, that most if not all her credentials are phony, that she’s had at least five lawsuits against her, one being the city of Brownsville, Texas.

An additional lawsuit was for check fraud, Homeside Lending for repossession of her home which on one occasion she claimed her home burned down, on another occasion that she was robbed and frightened to live there any more.  Then there is another lawsuit by a monument/funeral home for non-payment of services.

Ms. May has claimed to be a licensed RN in several states, her resume is online and notes are done in blue, most states had no record of Ms. May.  She’s also claimed to be certified by OSHA, the EPA, and had the only patented test all of which was disproved.

To make herself sound more credible, on one occasion she has claimed her son flew Air Force One, then on another occasion that her brother-in-law flew Air Force One, neither could we prove or disprove but would not lay any credibility as to her knowledge, education or training.

Let me make this perfectly clear, she is a Registered Nurse, but nothing more!  She’s had no formal education or training in molds, toxins, toxicology is not a PhD or an MD!

She was selling a “test kit” for $49.95 under the label Warbler Mold Detection using scare tactics most would not believe possible.  Then she’d charge an additional $300.00 for the testing.

Ms. May attempted to get a Congressman from Michigan to help back her to obtain business loans/grants to open a laboratory and manufacturing plant.  Then again with a Congressman from Illinois, then attempting to gain the Mayor of Pontiac to support this game of hers along with several veterans from Pontiac.

Ms. May did appear on the radio show VFVC (Veterans for Veteran Connection) claiming she is the only nationally recognized expert.  Claimed she had testified for many victims and helped them win their court cases, and the same thing with veterans.  But when she was questioned about these cases she’d declare confidentiality when names were not asked for.  When asked questions regarding where her “laboratory” was her reply was that it was “confidential” and/or “top secret”.  She also claimed she had contracts with the DoD and the VA and she was the only person in the United States licensed to test for AO Dioxins.

She was invited to be on the next 3 shows, however, she failed to appear as scheduled and promised and numerous calls during the show went unanswered.

Veterans-For-Change does realize thousands if not millions of our veterans were badly contaminated by Agent Orange in Korea, Laos, Cambodia, Viet Nam, and CONUS.  And we also know most veterans who are ill would probably grab at any chance of a so-called test that would help them gain benefits from a claim or a possible cure.

We’d like to make it perfectly clear to all our readers that yes you can be tested for dioxin contamination, but only by blood tests and not by urine tests.  And that any test performed which would show contamination would not in any way prove contamination happened today, yesterday or forty years ago.

On February 5, 2010 Ms. Linda K. May appeared on the Info Wars talk show with Alex Jones and this show was posted on YouTube.

We have created a special document folder on Veterans-For-Change where anyone can go and either read or download any of the 40 documents on-line right now, and there are approximately 12,000 pages more to come over the next 30-days.

You do need to become a member to even see the file folder, but rest assured the system is very secure and safe.

Please take to heart this warning that you should not believe a word this woman says, and if she attempts to sell you a test kit, provide services that you should run the other direction, not walk, RUN!

We’ve heard from many victims of Linda K. May since August 2009, what we’d like for you to do is please write your story in as much detail as possible leaving out all names, click HERE and send to us, we will confirm no names, addresses, E-Mail addresses, and telephone numbers do not exist or can be blacked out to protect identity so that we can post for others to see and hopefully prevent any one further from being scammed and harmed by this woman.

Please, pass this on to all those on your private E-Mail lists, post warnings on any groups or blogs you belong to so that we get the word spread wide and far to avoid this woman!

Complaints have already been filed with the Attorney General’s in Michigan, Illinois, California, Texas, Canadian officials, and a few other states are soon to be notified as well.

Her last known where-a-bouts was Grandview, Kansas!  So beware, be cautious and be smart!  It if walks like a duck, and quacks like a duck, it’s a duck!

And if something sounds to good to be true, then evidently it’s NOT true!

EPA CIAQ: GAO Mold Audit Workgroup doesn’t report in – What is going on at the EPA? – Indoor air pollution and mold aren’t top priorities?

School Mold Help

On Feb. 3rd, 2010, the Environmental Protection Agency’s CIAQ (Committee on Indoor Air Quality) held one of its three yearly meetings in Washington, DC. Prior to this meeting, the US GAO Mold Audit Workgroup was to have met again, in Jan. 2010, to determine how to protect health by informing the American public about mold hazards, prevention and solutions, maintaining consistency across federal agencies (one of their very few meetings scheduled since designated to do so by the GAO in its Oct. 2008 report).Their progress was to have been reported in the CIAQ meeting, as CIAQ oversees this workgroup. But it was a no-show for the mold workgroup. In fact, nothing about mold problems was even on the agenda! We’d like to know WHY. Whose decision was that? We want that information made public, with a detailed explanation. There are signs that under the new Obama-appointed EPA administrator, Lisa Jackson, indoor air pollution is not a top priority.

Members of the public were able to participate in the CIAQ meeting by phone, muted, recognized occasionally for commentary, after registering for a webinar, in addition to those physically present. There were many unhappy people on those phone lines, especially since it certainly appeared that the EPA’s CIAQ group was dodging the issues about why the workgroup made no report. After three hours, one of the EPA administrators present, David Rowson, of the Center for Asthma and Schools, finally admitted that the mold workgroup hadn’t met. Also, that the minutes from the last CIAQ meeting in Oct., 2009, detailing information about this workgroup, among other topics, hadn’t been written or published. The mold comments that were made by phone participants on Feb. 3rd were going to be cut from the audio of this CIAQ meeting and posted separately, “somewhere”, we were all told by Mr. Phil Jalbert, of the CIAQ. Considering research from WHO, IOM, and thousands of scientists have shown mold and dampness-related illnesses seriously impact the health of millions, we find this negligence on the part of EPA to be inexcusable. It is an ominous sign that even with a new agency head appointed, we note that indoor air pollution didn’t even make it onto the list of EPA priorities for its budget of 2010 (see below). We are particularly disappointed that this leading cause of asthma has been left off the list, in the midst of an increasing, serious asthma epidemic for school-aged children.

The SMH Director and Board President attended the CIAQ meeting by phone, as we have for numerous others, along with individuals representing at least 8 other mold activist groups. The CIAQ has the responsibility, given to it by the US General Accounting Office, research arm of Congress, to coordinate the mold information in a manner that will benefit the public. We insist that this be continued and the task completed. It has been 1.5 years since the US GAO Mold Audit was published. The stalling and avoidance must stop. The public deserves protection via scientifically accurate, up-to-date, consistent information from all government agencies.  For example, to date, none of the US gov’t agencies have yet informed the public about the WHO findings (July 2009) that indoor dampness can cause new asthma cases, and that mold and dampness are associated with immunological problems. Mold and dampness are rampant in our schools, workplaces, and homes. We call upon the US EPA and its new administrator, Lisa Jackson, to make clean, healthy indoor air a top priority of the US EPA,  continuing the work of the CIAQ’s GAO Mold Audit workgroup on a fast track, and for all EPA administrators to be responsive to the public. We call upon Mrs. Jackson, the mother of a child with asthma, to make up-to-date education about indoor mold and dampness, coordinated with other gov’t agencies, with EPA child protection from these dangerous conditions, the EPA’s highest priorities.(SMH)

To write the CIAQ, email ciaq@epamail.epa.gov and address your letters to Phil Jalbert, Executive Secretary.

To write Mr. David Rowson, Director, Center for Asthma and Schools, Indoor Environments Divison, US EPA email    rowson.david@epa.gov.

We suggest writing President Obama about this as well, as ignoring and avoiding public health issues adds significantly to the public health burden and economic problems of the nation. President Obama has ordered all administrators to exercise transparency at their federal agencies. We are really disappointed in the EPA in this respect.

We hear over and over again, from mold-ill people or parents of school mold-ill students, that they are frustrated that United States government agencies are of no help to them what-so-ever. We have a serious public health threat that isn’t being properly addressed because our government agencies have been remiss. The US GAO Mold Audit (2008) agreed. We are disappointed with the EPA’s attitude during the CIAQ meeting and with the lack of prompt and responsible action at the federal level.

City Councilman Ron Sparks and Wilmington Housing Authority go to court – Mold Infested Eastbrook Apartments

February 4, 2010
Reported by: Hailey Winslow

The battle between a city agency and a City Councilman begins…

City Councilman Ronald Sparks and the Wilmington Housing Authority went to court Thursday morning. Sparks was trying to get a judge to throw out the WHA’s lawsuit against him, stemming from problems with the Authority’s purchase of Eastbrook Apartments.

The big discussion in court today was if Sparks can get a fair trial. His attorneys say the media has been telling just one side of the story.

The Wilmington Housing Authority is suing Councilman Ronald Sparks, because he recommended the purchase of the Eastbrook Apartment complex after inspecting it for them back in 2005. The complex later had to be evacuated because of mold problems, and still sits empty today.

Sparks attorneys told a superior court judge Thursday they can’t get a fair trial. They say the constant media coverage about Eastbrook has been one-sided. Sparks’ attorneys say they declined comment on several occasions to protect the case, while WHA attorneys say the public has a right to know.

“It’s a public housing agency and obviously anything that is of legitimate public concern by a public agency ought to be held in a forum where the public can participate”, says WHA Attorney Gary Shipman.

Following Sparks recommendation, WHA paid more than one million dollars for the apartment complex, only to find out it was too moldy to live in.

The housing authority is suing Sparks’ Engineering firm for negligence. But Sparks’ attorneys told the judge sparks made note of “moisture and mildew problems” in his report.

The judge said despite the media coverage, the case should still go to trial. He also denied a request from sparks attorneys to move the trial to a special business court.

“The losses that we seek to recover are substantial in terms of quantifying those loses, we’ll quantify them in court,” says Shipman.

Despite several chances to comment on the case Thursday, sparks and his attorneys declined. The case is going to be tried at the New Hanover County Courthouse in April.

Government Workers – HUD – Say Building Makes Them Sick – years of on & off roof leaks – mold – stachybotrys

WASHINGTON – Some government workers say their offices are making them sick. We went inside the HUD building they say is at the center of the problem.

Three thousand people work inside the building. If you ask some HUD employees if the building makes people sick, some say yes.

HUD employee Jamita Fleming said, “If i’m off on vacation for like a week or two, I don’t have any respiratory problems and when I come back I get the problems again.”

Others don’t think the building is making them sick.

“People do say that, but I think some people like to complain in general,” said June Stewart, an HUD employee.

The building is drab and of the so-called “brutalist architecture” of the late 1960s, corridors with so little outside light some people say it’s 10 floors of basement. The union complains that with years of off and on roof leaks, internal spills, and stagnant air there are problems.

“In my particular, office they found stachybotrys, which they tell me is called a black mold, which is one of the worst molds that you can find,” said The AFGE Union Vice President Art Grammer.

The AFGE Union says it paid for that air study. The union president says the AFGE also surveyed its members and 13 percent said the building made them sick.

According to Local 476 AFGE President Eddie Eitches, “When they came into the the building they were sick and when they left, they felt better. ”

HUD management insists the building has passed Federal Occupational Health (FOH) tests for air and water quality, yet admits the building is old and they’re going to do major renovations soon. They said they’d like to move employees temporarily to the new building across the street. That building is the old Department of Transportation building, which had to be abandoned and renovated because it was deemed sick.

The union wants out of the HUD building as quickly as possible. The union’s president said he’d like to see the building leveled, but management said that is not going to happen because it is a historic structure. They just want it renovated so that it is greener and brings in more sunlight.
